Hi everyone - I have a Hoover central vac system in my house. It's about 12 years old and needs a new hose, carpet attachment and bare floor attachment. I've been pricing packages out in retail and realize I'm probably going to be spending at least $400 on this. (Maybe more....)
There are things that I do like about central vac. I like that the dirt goes into a canister in the basement and away from the living areas. It's easy to empty.
We have large rooms, but I can do a whole room or 2 without having to re-plug into an outlet all the time. It is convienent.
I guess the issue I'm having is - for those of you who also have central vac - do you think it cleans as well as say, a Dyson or a higher-end traditional vaccum? I can vaccum the whole house and get down onto the floor and still see dog hair. This is a problem for me. It could very well be that I am in dire need of a new hose and attachments, and have been needing those for a very long time. However, do you think for $400, I could get a traditional upright that would clean better? I feel like because I have central vac, I should be using it, but are there better vaccums out there now? I would be grateful for opinions from other central vac owners.
