I've never objected to white, only when it is simply the "default" color, as if the homeowner chose it because it was trendy and with no thought to the actual situation of the room.

With white, I prefer a 'warmer' white than the one pictured.  Soft whites look great if you favor antiques and a more traditional look in general.

For some reason, those built-ins are too "utilitarian" looking for me-- they remind me of the cupboards you'd find in a craft or hobby room or classroom.  Very useful, but a different vibe than I'd want in a living room.

So, this wouldn't be my choice, but I like the cozier touches of rattan and warm woods.  Amping that up, tempering the more stark white paint with something softer, removing the fixtures attached to the built-ins, and providing some color contrast in pillows and throws would really help, in my opinion.

Good morning @stevieb

I like this nice, bright room a lot, esp. the ceilings & wall of windows.  I'd also need to toss a few things & replace .. sorry, but I have a need for "some blue" in there.  The sofas in white, although nice, aren't practical in our home with 3 pets.  Altogether though, a cheerful room.

Thanks for sharing.

I like the room, ceiling, beams.......However, here we go......I think one section of built ins on either side of the fp would be enough.  Don't like the lights over them or the huge mirror, or bare mantel, or the furniture, or the bare windows.

All those things I would need to change, and add some color!

I like this room with all the white and the wood contrast. It's a simple and non cluttered look.

It has no texture.  It is smooth, angular, hard and relentless.  No curves, no textures, nothing to draw your eye and make it interesting.

I love it.  It would not be practical with my family and 3 dogs, but I really do love it!

Re: White Room...

[ Edited ]

Interestingly enough, I like this white and wood tone room. I'd not replicate this room at home but I do like it. Were I tweaking it, and I would, I'd replace the unappealing to me double coffee tables and end table and probably replace what looks like a bar cabinet back by the rear windows. The windows would receive a minimal covering and I'd find a way to highlight the wood tones. I'd not have selected such a bright white, and for once, I'd not introduce more color. I would replace the throw pillows with more interesting options and find ways to ramp up wood as a contrast 'color'.

Doesn't work for me.  Too sterile. Would also be afraid to use the room.

a little to bright/white for me!!!!  perhaps even if just the inside bookcase wall was turquoise might take it down to a feel-good room for me!

The room itself is great, but the white furniture is a no way!   I would so be adding some red to this big space.
