I like the dining set, the white chair, & the chandelier.

@stevieb agree with your generalizations about this room. Surprisingly, I'd be happy here with the exception of the table and chairs with the thin stems as "legs".

@lolakimono I enjoy reading your observations. I've often wondered about your opinions of your posts. I so enjoy your contributions on both sides of the fence.![]()

LOVE the chandelier and the mirror!
Too much contrast to the dining set: a Miss for me. It's got to go.
Hard to see, but I like the contrast of the dark chest with white marble top in the upper right corner. More of that contrast needed in this room.
I question the scale and design of the sconces flanking the mirror.

I find it to be a very witty, interesting room. Love the juxtaposition of the the heavy gilt and the luxe elements with the midcentury and modern aspects (table, chairs, blue print, etc.) Well done. Although not entirely my thing, I would find a dinner party in these environs to be great fun.
And imagine the glisten of candlelight reflecting off those perfectly lacquered walls...

No, not for me. Far too much white. The lone blue picture on the wall is just jarring with nothing to tie it to the rest of the room.

I don't like it at all.

@ladycos I tend to like lacquer treatments only when used sparingly, which isn't the case here... but, like you, for some reason, this room, overall and given that I'd change out some elements, works for me...You make a good point. It is very tranquil...

I like it but I would have to add a little more color.

All I can think about is the amount of work to keep everything white. In NYC - everything gets coated with a layer of gray dust that seems to seep through closed windows ... even thought I'm up ten floors from the street!
I do like the table - mine is similar shape/pedestal except in faux marble with black trim. (Chairs are black.)
My sister (who lives in the LI suburbs) had her kitchen floor redone with distressed white floorboards that look sort of similar.
