Gold for sure ~ the same reasons as mentioned above. I would definitely use gold charger plates. For Christmas, I usually use a cream table cloth, gold charger plates, white dishes, and gold utensils. Splash with red.

My vote is for silver. It is very formal looking and I love silverware, not gold place settings. I love the more updated look with silver and ivory!

Gold is 'warm' like cream is, so I would contrast with 'cool' silver instead.
