While on the subject of cleaning the garage...what have any of you used to clean  the floor...that is one of my projects this summer...It does not need to be sparkling clean but I'd like to give it a good scrubbing.

Shop Vac.

I don't leave the garage doors open, so no leaves.  I'd sweep up anything larger with a broom the Shop Vac couldn't handle.

After removing everything - We use a Shop Vac for general cleaning, and a Power Washer for the floor.

Re: Which is Best to Clean Garage?

This is an argument my husband and I have about once every 2 years or so when I suggest cleaning the garage. We have a shopvac that has only been used to suck up woodshavings. The blasted shopvac is stored above my head and I am not climbing the ladder to haul it down. Grrr. I also have a battery operated Makita blower....which I LOVE....that I primarily use outside, but have used inside the garage to blow stuff out from under benches, etc. I then use broom and dustpan to pick up the stuff.

Re cleaning the garage floor, I think it would depend on your floor. We have stained concrete and I just use vinegar and warm water to mop it. Then I spray Home Defense all around the base of the floor, by doors, windows, etc to keep the bugs away. We used to have a pest control person come out, but I did not like what they used and the guy was creepy, so now we do our own.

Re: Which is Best to Clean Garage?

some leaf blowers are also vacuums.  I think ours is.

But I would never use a leaf blower inside anywhere, not even the garage.

We leave our garage door open sometimes, it's at the back of the house and only accessible from our alley.  It's not unusual to see our neighbors with their's open, either.

Broom and dust pan for me too.

I use the blower on the driveway, patio, and deck - never inside.

I had not cleaned the garage for over a year - did it about 6 months ago.  I was surprised and so pleased there were no bugs.  We have Ehrlich pest control every 4 months.

I use a broom.  It's low-tech, but quiet and energy-efficient.
