Sunday - Question a Caller just asked David & Amy re: Roomba
Caller stated no pets - no smoking in her house - just 2 people husband/wife
Where does all the dirt and dust come from????
Here are my ideas............
when was furnace last cleaned ?
do you replace furnace filters several times per year
flannel sheets & blankets give off more dust - fibers than most realize
flannel - wool - heavier jackets - coats
dirt - soil from shoes/boots
lots of dust enters building through window screens & open windows
fibers from paper products: tissues - toilet paper - paper towels
even fine dust from makeup - blushes - brushes -
Big one: bathroom towels - fluffy or not
Another big one - fireplace - pellet stove - electric heaters blow floor dust around
The nice lady sounded so frustrated - got me to thinking - where does grit come from - without pets & kids.
Add more sources if you have ideas......................

Dead skin????
I vacuum daily and see the dirt that is in the cup. It's gray, not like dirt from the ground.

Very common sources:
--comes in on shoes
--lots is shed skin cells -- from pets it's called dander, but humans shed just as much
--and don't forget dust mites, which are everywhere, and dust mite waste, invisible but a common allergen

I live on the west coast where it is often quite windy. The wind picks up dust.

In Arizona, by the time you finish dusting a room, it's time to start over again........(you kinda get used to "living with it") !!

I know where my dust comes from. We live with our windows open 24x7/365 and living beach front, it gets dusty. Plus, I have a husband and puppy, so, there are my dust sources...LOL!

How true. Since we don't have a furnace, don't use flannel sheets, most of ours comes from litter box dust. I don't care what the package says about litter being dust free cuz it isn't. Also since nobody has grass I'm sure lots of the dust is from our rock yards.

There is ALWAYS white dust on the radiator top....it's right below where one tears off the toilet paper tissue !!!
