Where Can I Find Sheets That Are Soft and Durable???

I used to be able to rely on things like thread count, Egyptian cotton, etc. to know the sheets would be soft. I've checked so many places and even on Q, sheets that I thought would be a good buy got poor reviews. I realize some companies fudge on thread count but I thought Q would make sure the manufacturers who sell here would be reliable. Last month I spent over $120 for king size sheets (not from here) and they're okay but they're not super soft. Years ago, I just bought percale and they were perfect. Now it's like a major ordeal trying to find sheets that are great quality and soft without taking out a loan. I've noticed a lot of microfiber in the stores and they feel soft but I'm sure that they will end up pilling. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Re: Where Can I Find Sheets That Are Soft and Durable???

I have a very healthy array of quality sheets in high thread counts that have been put on the shelf for the cooler months since I invested in a few pairs of the Malden mills polar fleece sheets from here. My DH loved them so much he insisted after one night sleep that I call and order more sets for he never wanted to be without them. They are soft, durable and simply wonderful. I use my other sheets when the weather gets warmer. These sheets are the best, soft as a baby blanket and as one customer described like a hug.

Okay, I was a 1200 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton snob, yet for years I've been loyal to a brand called Pure Beech. They sell modal sheet sets at BB&B. Now, don't get the sateen version they sell, get the ones that feel like jersey knit. They should have samples out in the store. The more you wash them, the softer they become. You can dry them on hot or cold. It doesn't matter. You can't mess them up. They're soft, affordable and resilient. I love climbing into these.

You say it feels like a jersey knit so that would make me think they would pill up. I'm assuming they don't or you wouldn't recommend them. I'll check them out the next time I'm in town. Thanks.

Never a single pill. Never. Pilling is not in the vocabulary of this fabric.

Agree - bought my first set during the tsv. Loved them so much (they are sooooo soft and cozy) I ordered another pair. Then I ordered them for the guest bedroom.

Does anyone use these in the summer? Are they hot? I know some people use flannel in the summer and say they are not hot (I never tried because I'm not crazy about flannel sheets), so I was just wondering.

I know some people swear by flannel sheets and I assume these are similar. I've never tried anything like polar fleece or flannel and I tend to like sheets that feel "cool" even in cold weather which is a bit strange I guess. Thanks for answering. My battery is about to go dead so I've got to go and plug in.

Re: Where Can I Find Sheets That Are Soft and Durable???

I've had Malden Mills, and after one wash and dry, there were rough patches on equidistant areas of the sheet. I don't know why, maybe it's the thread pattern, but I would assume that because there was a pattern to the rough areas, the warp and weft of the fabric was inconsistent.

I don't know if you live in an area with a Steinmart but they are the absolute best place to buy sheets of good quality for a good price....hands down!
