Do you write on it what it is? I always do. I wrap my meat tightly in foil then put it in a zip lock and write on the zip lock including the date I put it in there. Things like frozen veg. I only write the date. Leftovers in a plastic container I put a piece of blue painters tape & write what it is and the date. Some of my friends laugh at me , but I always know what I've got in there. And nothing gets freezer burn because I always wrap in foil very tight then put it in a ziplock.I use a black sharpie marker to write on everything.
I have a friend who brings home meat and just tosses it into the freezer in the packet from the grocery store. I could never leave meat sitting on that pad in the bottom of those packets plus it would get freezer burn.

No, but I will occasionally take a freezer inventory to make sure things are used up within a month. I have a pretty good memory regarding when I purchased the items in my freezer.

I mark things, but I also keep a list of what's in there on the door of the freezer so I don't have to dig around.

I label and date it.

I have an upright freezer in my garage. I always wrap everything in it well and write the date and contents and the amount on the package. I would never just throw meat in there in the original package.
Everything gets frozen flat. I have plastic freezer bins that I have on each shelf. Each bin holds my food placed on it's end like a book.
When I need something, I slide out or remove the bin and get what I need. This keeps everything from falling out when I open the door and I can find things easily.
The freezer in my RV is organized the same way.
These are not pics of my freezers, but they look similar to them. Mine have way more stuff in them than in the pictures.

My freezer items consist mostly of the same ol' things I cook and freeze. It's just me here so I know when I placed it in there and it gets eaten way before it can go bad. Yep...I live such an exciting life.![]()

@151949. I freeze a lot of baked goods the same way.

I do exactly what you do with things I freeze, especially meat. Don't have to waste money because of freezer burn.

@Carmie I can see I need to upgrade the cardboard boxs! OH my how pretty. Somehow cardboxes just don't have "the look" do they? LOL!!!
And I buy that beef and it is wrapped so you can just throw it in the freezer and it is in a patty so it thaws easily too. LOVE that beef!

Everything in my freezer is double wrapped and put in box or bag clearly marked with day I put in freezer (or bought).
Although, lately I have been on the mission to eat everything in our freezer -- tonight we had ham (that I bought for Easter & didn't cook). Within one month I expect for it to be empty -- I'm not cooking like I used to. Its easier to run to the store 1x/week and if I'm going to cook pick up there plus its getting hot here so not alot of oven or indoor cooking.
I already succeeded in emptying my pantry .... yippee!!!
