Pottery Barn chic and Comfortable.  All my lamps are from Pottery Barn, side table, bedroom furniture and a lot of decos.  I have a slip covered sofa from IKEA with the round curved arms for $399 and looks like the $2,000 sofa and then I have a leather comfortable chair I bought on sale from Room and Board.   Cat WinkHeart

Airy, bright, quiet. Comfortable. With a lot of light and space... I dislike any kind of clutter, even though I'm a collector of things ;-)

I got such a nice feeling reading all your responses... even though there is so many different styles and definitions, we all seem to agree on comfort!

Warm - colors,woods

Comfy - everything is comfortable in my home, nothing is here that just "looks good"

Rustic -deer, elk, bear in wall art & table decor, antlers or bronze in lighting

(The only rooms I vary from this is the baths. I prefer a clean white look in those except for the granite countertops - those go back to the brown, beige, gray and white mix that is in the kitchen.)

Visitors tell me my house has the peacefulness of church and smells like church too.  I do burn incense and clear the place of negativity with sage, so that's probably what they are experiencing. My husband and I do like peace and quite, but the woods are alive with their sounds and we love living in the middle of it. I guess they are right, my home is peaceful and modest.

@Mominohio, What makes our house outdated is golden oak cabinetry and brass light fixtures. I shouldn't complain but there are a few things I want to update before Christmas.

@AuntG- Oh yeah, I think we've all been there at one time! The brass fixtures you are talking about were pretty much all the same in everyone's home.  Last house I just sold had oak cabinets but were the medium color, not the golden and when I had the kitchen reno'd the workers told me to keep those cabinets bc they were one of the few still around that are "solid wood" and the drawers were all dovetailed not glued together.  He advised to reno everything around it so I updated the floors and added the glass tiled backsplash.

This home was built this year and I did not upgrade the fixtures cuz they are brushed nickel and hang (love them) but face it, give it a few years and they'll be dated as well.  For kitchen cabinets, they had the old standby golden oak with many other options but I upgraded to solid maple cabinets that I love!

@Mominohio  I'm with you! Built in '73 and kitchen and baths never updated BUT all is paid for and any updating will be paid for too whenever that might be! LOL! It's had some updates like flooring, siding, windows etc.  Now we need a new roof. Ugh! Who really wants a new roof?!

I would describe it overall as cozy and inviting but a bit too cluttered which is going to change after the new year! I get lots of compliments on decor which I love to do a lot of - that's perhaps why there have been no updates to kitchen and baths. Sigh!

Re: What 'words' would describe your home?

New home built in 2017 - I call it the "Colors of Tuscany".

Used a friend's neighbor who is a designer to help me choose the paint colors to coordinate with two pics I wanted to hang - one of a Tuscan countryside and other a boat on a Venice canal.

Home very open concept. Cabinets are maple, kitchen walls are terra cotta overlooking the great room which is a gold color (yellow with brownish undertones). Master bed/bath is tan and the tray ceiling the same gold color as the great room, guest bath is Monroe Bisque and the guest bed is aqua.  It's bold, dramatic and the colors nicely compliment each other.  Was used to pastel walls and initially scared to go this bold but I love it!
