Just had Coretec LVP installed in the entire first floor of our home. I love it. What types of area rugs and mats can you put over it? I read to avoid any latex or rubber backing because it will discolor the new floor? Had no idea before we bought it. Most of my rugs I was going to down again have a latex carpet pad or backing to keep it from slipping. What do you use if you have LVP?
I've bought pads for larger area rugs that aren't latex or rubber. Only small rugs and mats use the rubber backing, and yes, they will yellow vinyl material. I had it happen.
@Trailrun23 We have it throughout the downstairs and on our third floor rec room. Absolutely love it. I do not use any rugs over it. We like bare floors. However, I do have two rugs by each outside door. They are heavy hooked wool with canvas backing. Mine do not slide, but my LVP has a grooved texture to it. Sometimes if grandkids come flying in the back door is will slide askew but it's minor. No rug pad needed.
After we installed engineered hardwood in the living room I was going to buy a rug but DH said why do you want to cover up the floor? I was going to buy one of those Royal Palace Rugs from Q years ago.
It's easier for me to clean without dealing with a large rug.
@Trailrun23 I had Kardean LVP put in a couple months ago in my whole house. LVP is not vinyl flooring and has so many layers it won't yellow as the old vinyl flooring did by the rubber backed rugs. I had yellow areas on my old vinyl where the rugs sat. i asked my installers and our decorator at our flooring store if it's ok to use rubber backed rugs. The answer was yes as long as its not in direct sun. Well, being that I am paranoid about ruining my beautiful new LVP I plan to go into the flooring store as they carry rugs and can make custom ones if wanted. So, to be continued...
