In the throes of deep spring cleaning, and I just tackled the underneath of the bed in our master bedroom. Ugh!

My desire and past practice was to have NOTHING under beds. I prefer it that way. It is easier to clean that way, and I just feel like every thing needs a place, and not under the bed.

But, life happens. I have a dog that is too big to hide under the bed, but he does. I don't want him under there for a number of reasons, one being that the bed broke once, when he was under there...dangerous.

So I started putting things under there, to keep him from getting there. Now, the house has filled up to the point that I NEED the space under there for the stuff that is there, no place left to store them (even when the dog is gone someday and I don't need to keep it there). It consists of several boxes of kids books that I'm saving, some were even mine, and a couple of those under the bed plastic tubs with kiddo's artwork and school mementos.

I have a dust ruffle, so you cannot see the stuff under there, but I know it is there, and it drives me nuts.

It seems to take forever to pull the stuff out, clean and put back, but , it is done.

Made me wonder, do others hate storing things under beds? If you do store there, what's under yours?

Good for you doing the spring cleaning. Sure makes you feel good to clean and get rid of things you may not need. I have always disliked having things under the bed. But life happens. I have a plastic shoe case, with slots for shoes. I have mostly summer sandals in there. My closet is overflowing. So under the bed was the only choice really. Iam looking forward to getting out that container and getting out my sandals. Must paint my toenails first though, ha ha!

My set of Robert Lee Morris turquoise tablet dinnerware. DH never liked the square shape. Why I haven't boxed it up and stored it is beyond me. I'm waiting for it to hit antique status. Other than that, the usual assortment of hair rollers, stray magazines, extra shoes and dust bunnies. The rails are very low and its hard to retrieve things.

Sometimes a dog or two! I am also concerned that the bed may fall down so I discourage this behavior. I bought a nice under the bed box with wheels from Home Goods to store table linens and such, but the dog kept brushing up against the fabric box, so I took it out.

I read that it is bad Feng Shui to store anything under the bed.

There isn't even a dust bunny under our bed since I vacuum under the bed once a week. To me, storing under the bed just isn't convenient to have/get things...more out of sight/out of mind.

For example, I know some ladies store some of their handbags under their bed. Personally, I just can't see myself getting on my knees to choose a purse to carry...that's just me Smile

Nothing but the carpet, I vacuum it weekly and don't store under it. Just one of the things I won't do. I do lots of "other things" tho. Smile
