I don't like a cluttered look on the counters but I do like having nice decorative stuff out...there is a fine line though!
I have read accents and have a red canister set, a cute coordinating (but small ceramic) sugar conatiner, my vitamix since we use it often, my toaster oven. On another counter which is not a food prep area, I have some other decorative items.....a tissue box, a mini tray for odds & ends, a ceramic storage rooster,

I have my Keurig, and a Kcup holder, Canister Set and a Paper towel holder on mine. When selling your home they recommend that you have no more than 3 things on your countertops, otherwise depending on the size of your kitchen it will look too cluttered....I have an Aunt who is a clean fanatic and a minimalist, who only has a paper towel holder on her counters-nothing else-she has a small kitchen, but it does make her ktichen look bigger!!!!!!!

I keep the appliances I use at least once a week out on the counter - Keurig, rice cooker, and my multi-cooker. There's also a carousel of Keurig k-cups, My K-Cup inserts, a stand for tea selections and a mug stand by the Keurig. (The Keurig and accessories are on an island). I also keep a 4-cup measuring cup out because I use it to refill my water filter pitcher every day. (It's easier than putting the whole giant pitcher under the faucet.) I have a stand set of kitchen tools like a whisk, scoop, etc that lives on the counter. At some point, I want to get a knife block and keep that out, but for now all my knives live in a drawer and they all have sheathes on them. A knife block would be so much better!

I had the same quandry when we moved into our new condo six weeks ago. I had a galley style kitchen and now I have a real kitchen again. I'm not a clutter person by nature but I also don't like having to reach for things every time I need something. So, I have my microwave on the counter. And my coffee maker, it's a small Mr Coffee. I also have my blender on the counter because hubby makes a couple of smoothies a day and also the toaster. My appliances are all white, I keep them pushed back on the counter, they blend in. I have that clean, streamlined look I like.
