I bought sheets last year and they are junk. The material pilled. What material should I look for when purchasing sheets ? Also, wrinkle free ?

I've become a big fan of microfiber. They're pretty comfy year round. My oldest set is two and a half years old and still look/feel like new despite my cat constantly kneading them.

I like them too, check out the Cozelle brand on Shop HQ.

I have a number of sets of Malden Mills Polarfleece both here and at the ranch. Some are a number years old. No pilling, but I launder by Malden's directions - dry with no fabric softener and no heat. Malden fleece is a breathable material, so you can actually use year round; doesn't get hot in summer, but is toasty warm in winter. Tried fleece from both Costco and BJ's, but they pilled and looked like cr*p after awhile, so I brought them back the following year for a refund. (As an FYI, I have a number of Land's End Malden Mills Polarfleece sweatshirts, PJ bottoms, nightshirts, gloves, hats, pants outerwear, and could NEVER go back to regular sweatshirts ever).
My other sheets are 400TC percale or Egyptian cotton. Two sets were from Sam's three years ago, but Sam's no longer sells this one with the 4 cases.

Mirofiber has become my sheet of choice! They don't pill, and are cool and smooth (silk like feeling) to the touch!

Long staple cotton doesn't pill, but it's getting harder and harder to find at a reasonable price.

I've never had this problem with 100% Egyptian cotton. I go for mid-range threadcounts - between 400 and 800tc...most of mine are 600-800 - and have done very well.
It's probably a little bit more about the quality than the fabric, as others have mentioned. You cannot lose with a good quality cotton.
