My mother plays monopoly with the grandkids. The youngest also likes putting puzzles together.

With her approval, as she recorded her stories I provided sound effects. We had great fun doing this! Years later, I obtained my first Mac and it came equipped with speakable items. We would write stories and comedy and speakable items would read them in the voices we chose.
I love that, that's so cool! My own dear mother, did that with grandkids and kids in her daycare, and I'll always remember "Three Billy Goats Gruff".

If it's the former, I have no suggestions. But if it's the latter, I have to agree with the poster who mentioned Scattergories. That is an awesome game that ensures a good time, great participation from all players, and lots of laughs.
CM, it can be both. I don't know Scattergories, I forgot about Pictionary! That one I laughed so hard at when we played it, I'll never forget.

I purchased a big bag of sea animals, boats, etc. Whales, porpoises, sharks, star fish...it had everything in it...even found a diver and a shark cage and added new things to it over the years, even boats and a lighthouse. I can't tell you how many hours my little granddaughters have sat and played "picnic at the beach", "let's go diving", etc. I also have built a jungle through the years and added to it... that is also fun! You can get all the little animals at a craft store.
Again, very, very good ideas. When kids are stuck inside on snow days, it helps to know these things. I only remember blankets over chairs, as tents, and the littlest of kids always loved big old boxes they could crawl over, under in, put little doors and windows in.
I do remember in elementary school when we'd have a "post office" at Valentine's day, time to get all cards to everyone. Liked playing "grocery store" too. We had little cash register and took turns. Anyway, good ideas here, thanks so much ladies.

It's not really a board game but I love playing Jenga!

We love Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and Pictionary. If we play cards, we love Canasta.
When the grandchildren are here, we have a few other games for them. Battleship is always popular. I have to admit that I enjoy playing Battleship too.
