What style are you drawn to. Over the years I have changed lamps around 6 times in my living room and about the same for the bedrooms. I've looked back sometimes and said ( what was thinking?)
We all probably have at least one set of the tall buffet lamps that are a staple. I'm currently needed a floor lamp, but I'm in no rush. I love lamps and always check them out when I'm shopping.
Do you gravitate towards the brass lamps, glass lamps, round shades or square shades, vintage lamps, mid century, mercy glass , porcelain style, Tiffany style? I guess I'm asking out of curiosity and to learn from other point of views

Tiffany....7 of them....but they don't "go" with any other furnishings or decor.

I like lamps a good bit too. Looking around me, I guess I'd have to say I tend toward porcelain, crystal and glass lamps, though I've had brass, tole, wood, stained glass, marble, and resin among other materials. As for shades, I've tried many different shapes, types, colors, fabrics, solids and patterns and enjoyed most all of them.

I go for Tiffany style every single time. I have several.

I like glass or ceramic. The shade has to be drum style.

I have 3 of the Tiffany style wisteria lamps that you have pictured. One is a tall table lamp and two are like side board lamps. Most of our lamps are Tiffany style at both of our homes. I purchased from QVC, HSN, Shop HQ and from the QVC outlet store in Florida. (closed now) I also purchase two of the hanging lights that we have hanging from our vaulted ceiling. Can you tell that I love the look of the stained glass? ![]()

For me, lampshades are as or more important than the lamp itself.
I don't go for fussy lamps but I appreciate a good shade..
Harder to find them anymore, used to have a great lamp shop nearby, sadly gone out of business.

Your lamps sound gorgeous!

Isn't it amazing what lamps can do for a room!
I'm drawn to one-of-a-kind (in my world, anyway) consignment shop lamps. I'm all over the map regarding style but there are just those that scream "it".
I definitely agree, a shade can be the thing! (I think that was you, @software, that stated that.)
For me, light bulbs have been known to consume afternoons - the right level of illumination, right type of bulb - another factor that can make or break the lamp's appeal.
