It's called a console

I knew a lady that called it a credenza, some call it a sideboard and buffet table but to me all these go in a dining room.

I've only ever known it as a console or sofa table as well. Has the word you were thinking of come to you Mima?

Chalk up another vote as a Console. We had one when I was a kid - many eons ago. So did my grandparents.

I always heard sofa-table. Hunt boards or hunt tables could be used for sofa tables, but
are meant for dining room use.

I would vote sofa table or console table, but there have been several other suggestions that sound a little less common. Let us know if you figure it out.

I'm interested in hearing back from the OP as to whether she ever figured it out. I Googled it and couldn't find another name for console or sofa table. Those are the only two names I've ever heard it called.
