We bought one from Ethan Allen and it was called a Sofa Table at the time of purchase (So. Calif in case it might be regional) . Coffee Table is in front of the sofa. I can't think of any other names.... hope it comes to you because I'm really curious now....

If Ethan Allen calls it a "sofa table", by gum it's a sofa table!

bout de canape? To me those look like side or occasional tables. Canape is french for sofa. The french sites generally seem to call the table you mention a console.
