Timer first and second, battery life.

HH, if you find they last for 7 mos please tell us the name brand
I haven't even had Duracells last more than 3 mos!! I think I get about 2 mos when I use in Luminara as that flickering flame uses a lot more battery.
I finally bought rechargeable batteries. They supposedly will last 1000 charges. If I recharge 6x per year that's at least 166 years so if they perform as described I'll be thrilled!!! I've been using about a year now and so far so good.

I'd like it if they were rechargeable. If they could rig up a convenient charger like that magnetic charger they have for the Clarisonic Mia 2, that'd be great. If the battery lasted as long as normal batteries do, and then you could just recharge, I'd be really pleased.
For me, the timer makes all the difference. I wasn't interested in flameless before the timers started being used. I love when I walk in a room and the faux candles are already magically lit for me. The timer and verisimilitude.

Forgot to answer OP's original question. I would have to say TIMER! Of course they have to look good or I won't buy anyway but if there is no timer I won't buy unless it's a very special occasion item.
I did buy the Halloween flameless candle at Yankee that doesn't have a timer and it's really cute but it bugs me it doesn't go off automatically. Since I use rechargeable batteries it doesn't affect me as much ![]()

This changes colors and is just a fun candle, not serious like most of my flameless ![]()

Porcelain, I love the "word of the day" that many posters offer. Seriously! It keeps me on my toes. I always look them up to verify meaning and it expands my vocabulary. And I have a pretty good vocabulary as it is! I really enjoy these ![]()
Of course not all words used on these forums are legitimate.

Timer is most important.
Next, not in any particular order:
Flicker pattern has to look somewhat natural. Some random ones I have almost blink on and off and I don't like them at all. I'd rather a candle have a steady light and no flicker at all than a crazy blinking that draws too much attention.
Looks are important, but I like lots of different styles. So, it just depends on what I'm doing with it. The candle itself needs to look good in the place it's intended.
Battery life needs to be good. Great is better, of course.

Thanks! I still get this weird thrill when I spot a chance to use an old SAT vocabulary word, you know? And I think that candle you found is all kinds of cute.

I generally buy the batteries for my candles at Publix and they last about a year - so I am hoping these will make it through the 7 months we will be here. All mine have timers so they are only on a few hours a day - you must keep yours on longer.

Battery life, then timer. My favorite is still candle impressions.
I have some old candle impressions that have the choice of 5 hour or 10 hour timer. Lately there seems to be only the 5 hour choice. Does anyone know of any with both? In the winter I really use the 10 hour feature and would buy some more if I could find them again.
