I am curious as to what you all think of the new HE washers??
Front load HE washers, Top load HE washers with agitators, top load HE washer with wash plate.
I have a front load washer now it washes OK but am so tired of having to wipe the rubber gasket dry every time I use the washer.
I was out looking with my husband today and saw a Maytag super capacity top loader with agitator washer.
Will this washer get clothes wet like my front load washer does or as I have read on postings tonight, clothes were not getting wet or washed well at all.
Just need thoughts. Have not purchased a new washer, just thinking about it.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, my favorite washer was a Whirlpool Cabrio top loader without agitator.
I have had both top loaders and front loaders and I prefer top loaders.

In my previous home I had a top load LG washer with a 'water-plus' feature. I never had an issue of getting clothes clean with it even though it was a HE washer. I used the water-plus feather for heavier loads like linens and it worked great.
My current home came with a a front load washer that I do not like. I don't think that it cleans well. It's an older model but uses much less water.
Good luck with your search.

I have a 25 year old Kenmore Top Loader which I hope to have for a long time. Everyone I have spoken to hates the new HE washers but hates the FRONT loaders even more. Knowing this, I will only purchase a top loader. My goal is to find an older one (like mine) and just have it worked on or spend the money on a Speed Queen top loader.

I've stayed with top loaders with agitators and have been very happy with them. My sister has a front loader and says she won't get another one. My last 2 washers have been GE's and they've been good.

I also have the Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loader without agitator - for almost 5 years. Never had one problem - and it washes my clothes very well. Just use 1 tsp of HE liquid detergent (and less for a smaller load). I add a little baking soda or white vinegar.

I had a Maytag washer & dryer that lasted for over 20 years. It was simple - not a lot of bells & whistles back then - and worked nearly perfectly for all those years. When I needed new I was all excited about front loaders so I bought LG's HE washer & dryer. I had nothing but problems and smells (and I kept it very clean & dry and I kept the washer door open when not in use to make sure it was dry. I hated the extra work to always wipe it down, the laundry room looked weird with the washer door always left open. They had more service calls than any W/D I had ever had. I got rid of them and went back to a basic top loader. I bought Speed Queen - it looks exactly like my old Maytag, is totally made in Wisconsin (not overseas - so parts are easily available), comes with a long warranty, is more of a professional quality - has stainless steel interior. The pair was not inexpensive ($2,400) but I am sooooooo happy with them - they are well worth the price.

Ladies! Do your homework and read about the efficiency differences of the top load and front load washing machines! A top loader is far less efficient than a front loader. My new Maytag set will arrive this morning and again I chose a front loader on pedestals. Giving my old set to our son.

@viva923 , you will get many differing opinions on what is best. I had a Kenmore Elite front loader that lasted 14 years. I just replaced it with a Whirlpool frontier loader and I am happy with it. Front loaders usually come with a 'clean' cycle today.
Now ask me how I like my new Whirlpool fridge and that would be another issue...
Good luck with your choice! LM
