To explain why I said uncomfortable - it looks like a room that is just for show and where you can't just relax with your pets or children or grandchildren and really live in!   I know people who have rooms like this and no one can go in there and their family and friends are put in a "family room" and most of the rest of the house is off limits.

I can't imagine having my home like this. Needs to be functional, not like a furniture showroom,

I'd be curious to hear how those who aren't keen on this room would redecorate it.  That large window and ocean view really dominates the room.  I can't imagine it with rich, dark colored walls or furniture.  That kind of color scheme would really clash and detract from the wonderful view. To me, everything here just blends so well.

I don't get caught up in "decorating looks" and prefer eclectic individual useful pieces that can be used and really lived in without muss or fuss!  I want to be able to eat, play and just have fun in my home and not worry or obsess about spilling something or covering the sofa or chair so the dog or children don't ruin it!  No special look - just things I like and who cares whether others like it or proclaim it tacky!  I wouldn't have those massive drapes but rather verticle blinds.    For sure no strategically placed decorative pieces to get in the way of living and definitely no light colored furniture!   To clean this it would take a team of workers no matter how it's decorated.

No light colored furniture. (very hard to clean) Add some more colors like shades of blue and teal. Maybe some ocean themed pictures etc.( we don't see the other wall, so who knows what's there)

Chilly.

It's a lovely room, but not for me. I don't care for all the cool neutrals. I'm not fond of two story rooms anyway, but one that utterly lacks any warmth at all is not in my gameplan. One positive, though, is they managed to do an ocean front room without any of the usual kitschy 'beach' trappings, which I really do not like at all.

@missy1  It's interesting, because I searched Google images for 'beachfront living rooms' and most of the images that came up were similar to the one in the original post here.  What I really noticed the most is that none of the living rooms in those photos with large windows overlooking the ocean had ANY blue in the color schemes of the furniture or objects in the room.  Then it started to make sense to me.  To put blue in the room would pull from the focal point of the sky and ocean.  When I finally did see some photos of blue furniture in a room like this, it looked off.
