@CelticCrafter wrote:We have wood laminate in the kitchen and dining room that we put down about 12 years ago and it looks as good today as it did when we first did it.
When our cat was a kitten she dumped her water bowl over in the middle of the night and it was fine the next morning.
The only thing I don't like about it, it shows every drip and drop of water.
I've noticed that about the water. Every little drip does show up. That could be quite annoying to me.

We will be remodeling a pool house and I plan on installing the tile (ceramic) that looks like wood.

I have ceramic tile planks that look like wood. I had them installed on my whole first floor. I didn’t want any grout showing, so they’re sitting as close as they can.
I do have vinyl planks in the basement. I love them both for different reasons. They’re easy to take care of and will last a lifetime
I did see water resistant laminate flooring recently. I do not know how water resistant it is.

Stay FAR away from IVC flooring their company is in Georgia and if you want to see what a $5000. mess of a floor looks like we are living with this mess and the company refuses to do any thing about it. Started to complain to them 3 weeks after it was installed they did nothing and would do nothing even up to this day. After a year they decided to blame the installers that they put it in wrong. Well if it is your product and it is your installers that put the floor in should it not be their responsibility to fix it? Not according to IVC flooring company they want no parts of fixing this mess. By the way we bought the flooring from a Carpet One Store.

I have a bad back and 2 new knees so in the past I've always wanted carpeting...
However, one of my cats keeps spitting up hairballs constantly and it ruins my rugs (hence maybe the wood floors).
Does anyone have any ideas on wood floors that 'give' some and aren't hard on knees or backs?
I know you ladies are often in the know on many things so I thought I'd come to you.
I thought it might be the same kind of wood @Mominohio is looking for. I hope I'm not sticking my nose in her post....it just seems maybe...maybe it's similar to what I'm looking for...
If not, I totally apologize. Thanks.
Cork flooring is something you might want to look into for "give." It's known for that quality.

I've sent an email to the corporate headquarters of the store. The local folks had no idea.

@Mominohio Wood floors even when protected with polyurethane are not good in the kitchen. I had wood floors in the kitchen and although they look good around the sink area little drops of water still manage to seep in the floor. If you like wood then make sure you have a large area rug around the sink at all times. Ceramic is very attractive but may be hard to stand on for a long period. Watch Nate & Jerimiah on Sat. night --TLC. They had a floor installed in the kitchen with large tiles (not ceramic) that looked wonderful.

The brand is called Cortec. It has a thin layer of cork on the back that gives it some give. You will be hard pressed to be able to see the difference from real hardwood. It’s a luxery viynl floor plank. Scratch and water proof.

Another vote for ceramic plank flooring.
Wood laminate is great for living areas but I wouldn't want it again in water areas like kitchens or bathrooms. It can warp easily if any amount of water seeps underneath.
The ceramic planks look very much like wood but easier upkeep and pratically indestructible.

I haven't forgotten you.
I just sent a second request to the corporate offices of my local store asking about the flooring.
(All I had was the auto-reply from them to say they'd "send to the proper department.")
In any event, I will let you know if and when they respond.
