What do you think of Roomba?

HSN has it on special today and I am thinking of buying it. Any thoughts?

Re: What do you think of Roomba?

I had one when they first came out, (9 years ago?). I think it would've been good if I didn't have pets. It was hard to clean the pet hair out of the machine, the dogs were afraid of it, and the little plastic round brushes broke off. Sometimes it would get lost, and couldn't find the docking station. I would find it making clicking noises from under the bed, grrrr. So, if you have a relatively clean, pet-free, kid-free home-it will probably work for you.

I had one too when they first came out. It was the one that washed the floors. It took too much babysitting. It would get stuck or stayed on one side of the room. It left lines when it traveled across the room. It was way easier and less time consuming just washing the floor with a mop.

I don't remember what the final problem was. It wasn't working and I threw it out. Very costly mistake.

I had one a long time ago and didn't like it. It would get stuck, and you had to move things around and unplug cords before you could even start using it. It was just way too much trouble.

Re: What do you think of Roomba?

We have two big dogs that shed constantly. We got a Roomba and started to use it in December. We use it twice a week and it keeps up with the hair. It does take a few minutes to clean it out but they provide several tools that really work. Ours docks every time after it is done. It sounds like they have made improvements since the beginning. I wouldn't hesitate to try it.

I know I couldn't even consider it. I have a Basset Hound that is afraid of the vacuum, and her shedding almost fills my Dyson.

Re: What do you think of Roomba?

I have had both, one about 6 years which I use on my upper floor and one that is about one year old and just like anything else there have been so many improvement. like a completely different air vac system and a much larger bin. I don't have pets so I can't speak to that but the roller brushes stay so much cleaner because of the increased air flow. I wouldn't make my decision to get one based on the review of one that is the old model.

Re: What do you think of Roomba?

I have 4 long-haired dogs and found I could vacuum with my Dyson a lot faster than the time it took to clean the Roomba. They won't run if they're clogged with pet hair. Very sensitive.

It won't work for picking up my dog's hair. I bought one and had to take it back. Wish it would have worked out but should have known better.
