Re: What do you store in your garage?

[ Edited ]

We have a almost 1200 square foot garage. Two cars, tractor , a riding mower and all my dad’s tools. Plus a ton more.

Our oversized garage is for our vehicles, gas grill, his tools, lawnmower, and dog food.    A full size refrigerator is out there too; mainly used for cold drinks, water, pop, Gatorade, etc.   Everything in that fridge freezer belongs to my trucker daughter.

I store a mop and bucket, as well as potatoes and onions out there, but nothing else in that area is mine.

My husband built a ramp from the garage floor up to the door to enter the house, and there is a big storage area underneath.   My husband recycled the siding he had stored under there, and everything else belongs to our daughters.

Like @RedTop, we have a spare refrigerator used for beverages. There are plain kitchen cabinets along the back wall of our garage so I store rarely used countertop appliances (like Nesco roasters) out there. Beyond that, it is typical stuff like rakes, ladders and lawn mowers.

My car plus, tools & yard & gardening gear, ladders, & one cabinet is my overflow of kitchen stuff that I use only on occasion, like my Nesco roasters, electric skillet & large stock pots & roasting pans & such.

Where we live all the homes have basements with all that room. I find it interesting that in our neighborhood there are homes where they have never parked in their garage because they are full to the brim with stuff. Just having to clean their windshields off every morning in the winter they might do something about that.

I don't get that

Very old garage, so really, snow blower and stuff and yard stuff.  We do have 2 small sheds too though for larger things.  Again, just for use outside.

Basement is for the other things already mentioned here by others.

When I lived in an apartment I hated scraping my car windows in cold weather so I love having a garage!

@wilma

Me too!

When I had my own car and lived at home during high school and college, then my first couple of apartments, I had no garage space and hated my car sitting out in the snow, ice, rain, heat. It was never clean for more than 10 minutes, hot or cold to get into, carrying everything in and out in the weather (groceries, books etc.).

When I got my first garage I swore I'd never park outside again. And when I got my first attached garage, I thought I'd 'made it'.

I'm so spoiled by just getting in the car without fighting the elements, unloading things inside out of the weather and out of the sight of anyone seeing what I'm taking into the house.

I never understand how people who have a garage and a car, don't have to have them live together. There is nothing I want that space for more, than the convenience and safety of my car inside.

Re: What do you store in your garage?

We put our cars in the garage. I would be a nervous wreck leaving my car out but most of our neighbors do just that.

My husband has a work station that he rarely uses as he has a workspace in the rear of our home. He stores some garden tools in the garage and that is about it.

I am a neat nut so we have indoor-outdoor carpet on the floor and I also have several pretty throw rugs that I wash weekly.

My dream would be.....to have nothing in this space but our cars. I don't see that happening anytime soon. Smiley Wink

No cars. My sons extras thaty he can't fit in his garage cause he has cars in his. Empty boxes in case we need storage. I really have to look better since my husband passed away over 2years ago so his tools are still there. There is a freezer also.
