What do you enjoy doing on a rainy day?

Stormy here today. Normally I enjoy getting into a sewing project on a rainy day, but I'm doing laundry so that would keep interrupting my sewing. I have decided instead to make Spatzel for dinner, that will take a while this afternoon.

I love to curl up with a good cozy mystery, an old movie playing in the background, my favorite quilt and a nice cup of hot tea. I always have my Bichon Stanley laying beside me. Makes for a perfect rainy afternoon.

This time of year, there is no down time in my life, so a rainy day is all about getting caught up inside. If it is rainy and cool I will cook and bake a lot for when the sun comes back out, the temps go back up, and I need to be outdoors more.

In the winter, rain or snow might mean a day of lounging in front of the TV, if the annual purging and deep cleaning is done.

I'd like to say I love to sit and read on a rainy day, but really it leads to dozing off.

I would so love a rainy day with thunder, lightening and a gentle all day rain. I don't think we've had one in the almost 20 years I've lived here. We've been in a drought all that time and continuous sunshine does get old. Our annual precipitation averages 4 inches and we're lucky if we see that much.

Depends on my mood, what I feel like doing, and what needs to be done.

If I'm in the mood to concentrate ... dig into my research project, or curl up with a book, or catch up on some "required reading" before next webinar.

If I'm feeling creative ... knit or crochet.

If I feel like "doing something" .... I'll straighten out my yarn stash, or closet or drawers.
