I would call the house in your OP a semi-detached. Newer construction likes to refer to them as twinhomes.
A duplex to me is a two-story structure (oftentimes older Victorians) that has been carved into two homes--one on the first floor and one on the second floor.
A double bungalow is a two-residence, single-story structure attached with a shared wall.

The house in the OP would be a duplex. I've never really seen many of them in CT.
Most rentals that are not in large apartment complexes, but in large homes converted into multi family units, are referred to as "flats." Each flat is a single floor of the home.

Here we call it a Twin, Semi Attached, or Semi Detached.
A Duplex in this area in One house on top of the other with no attachment on the sides.
