What color granite should I select?

I am clueless about decorating and color choices and really need your help.

We bought a home that will have cherrywood maple cabinets with sand colored ceramic tile floors.

What color granite countertops and paint would you go with for the kitchen? The kitchen will also have a tiled backsplash.

Not sure what difference it makes color wise but the granite is 3 centimeters I was told by the contractor.
