I love wall paper, especially in the bath.  A few years ago, we removed the paper from a full bath and powder room.

I would like to replace it.  Thankfully, my husband hangs it perfectly.

It has always been expensive, but now it is is cost prohibitive.. It is also coming back.  I have seen some very expensive homes with wall paper.

I am not into bright flowered prints or garish patterns though.

I love wallpaper but do not have any in my home.  Years ago, when we did have wallpaper, we decided to redo the guest room.  Of course it had wallpaper, that was so supposed to be a breeze to remove.  Needless to say that was not the case.   It took days, lots of work, a steamer, sandpaper etc.   DH looked at me when we finally had the wallpaper down and said, do not mention wallpaper ever again!  LOLOLOL.

@Shelbelle   Not so for it being a thing of the past.  Wallpaper is quite popular in 2023 home trends and I am glad of it.  It is an issue to hang and remove to change but worth it IMO.  I changed some of mine out two years ago and glad I did then as it is much more expensive currently.

I'm sure it will be awhile before I change any again but I love to look at what I have now.

@Desert Lily

I used to love wallpaper!

The pattern I could always live with was a diagonal with subtle colors.

Perhaps I might have tried a stronger color in a small area... such as a guest bath?

@Desert Lily , my family home (the one I grew up in) is 250 years old.  I know all about stripping wall paper and, no, you will never find it in my home...

I am far from a Wallpaper Lover. The house we bought in the 80'S had it in every room and it was a real nightmare to remove. Never again.

I would admire a very calm print wallpaper in someone elses home but not in mine.

It's not that I dislike wallpaper, but I do think it dates a house very quickly.  I think if you opt for wallpaper you need to be prepared to change it at least every ten years or so.  Removing it and prepping the walls for paint is a major undertaking should you decide you've had enough wallpaper.

The new modern wallpaper is easy to remove.  You just grab a corner, loosen it up and pull down with an even tension.  It comes right off.  Then you just wash the wall down.

They also make wallpaper that when strips off it leaves a smooth surface liner behind as a base for new wallpaper.   If you do not want to repaper, the liner takes some effort to remove.

And finally, some wallpaper can be applied and removed and reused again.

Modern wallpaper has come a long way from brushing wheat paste on the back of the paper and getting it everywhere when applying and spending long hours trying to remove it when you changed your mind.
