Do you still have it or use it?

I have mine but never, ever use it.

I never had my own, but I inherited my great aunt's service for 12.  Used it maybe twice in the past 35 years.  But guilt won't let me get rid of it.  It can't go into the dishwasher because of the gold trim or I might actually get some use out of it.  My mother had trouble geting someone to take her set, my neice finally did.

I didn't get mine when we were married,  I bought mine a few years later.  And yes I use it. My mother use hers on special occasions and maybe that's where I got it from. I also use mine on special occasions. Always thanksgiving and other times throughout the year.  It's a lot of fun and the grandkids love it. It just makes what ever the reason a lot more special.

My mother up til a year ago would always have us wash her good china by hand-and she always liked to use it for family gatherings-never paper plates!so there was a lot of dish washing!

But lately she has said just put it in the dish washer and it seems to be okay! It also has gold trim.

Now I kind of wonder what the heck is in that gold trim that it fades when put in dish washer?! I tested all my dishes for lead but I don't think I ever did test hers.

I have my mother's, but haven't used it since I got a dishwasher...it must be handwashed. No children of my own, but I'm hoping my niece will want it someday when she gets married. If not, and I can't find anyone else to take it, I'll probably donate it. It's very pretty, but not really my taste.

Some families do feel a sentimental attachment to family china or crystal or silver -  mine never did and I don't believe any of us ever started our own significant collections.

I do have some of each, but I do not expect anyone in my family to want them although I suppose they might take the silver to sell it - silver has some value.  The crystal and china while expensive for me at the time really don't carry all that much value 50+ years from purchase, so I've been using the china every day as I can toss it into the machine.  The crystal and silver I'm also using for myself but seldom more than once a day so I don't mind hand-washing it.

My mother bought the china I chose as a bridal shower gift to me. I used it often for the twenty years of my marriage. After I divorced and downsized my home I decided my formal hostessing days were over. Sold it on Ebay. It was beautiful and served me well, I enjoyed it and do not miss it.

DS is being married soon. Not registered for china, crystal and silver. Bride's mom did not want her's any longer and gave it to them, (like it or not).

I still have mine wrapped up in a box in storage. Since it was my first marriage that ended my husband currently wants to sell it.  I told him I haven't decided yet as I may want to use it again.

I still have mine and it is very pretty but because it is so dressy I never have an occasion to actually use it.  Luckily, my greandmother bought a set of casual dishes as well and we use those everyday.
