Re: Wedding Rings Quilt ... The End

@PA Mom-mom, I enjoy it.  Helps the winter pass.

I woke up this morning to snow falling.  I’m done with that for this year!  LM

Re: Wedding Rings Quilt ... The End

@Carmie, I am anxious to get outside.  Imagine my disappointment to get up to find it is snowing.  It is supposed to turn to rain though.  I want to take my winter tires off but still too early!  LM

Re: Wedding Rings Quilt ... The End

@SHOPR, To piece a quilt top is a hard job and one that I don’t have the skill or patience for to date.  It seems that those who like to do quilt tops usually prefer that to quilting.  To do both is amazing.

I would love to have your grandmother and great grandmother beside me to figure out how to do my property.  I am hoping my sister will be able to help me.  I see many visits to YouTube if I get ambitious enough to take that on!  LM

@Lilysmom

As I mentioned in earlier post, your stitching is impeccable.  I don't think I've seen more precise work!

Do you also piece with hand stitches?

Not that it makes any difference, but you must be very patient if you do.

Just beautiful work/colors/pattern!

Beautiful!  You are one of the few who still hand-stitch their quilts.  My grandmother did and my mother - who doesn't quilt - said machine-quilting doesn't compare.

@Lilysmom, Yes! "Piece" is the word that fails me every time. Woman Embarassed Machine piecing the quilt top is what I was trying to describe as how my grandmas did theirs, and then once the top was complete, everything else was hand stitched until the quilt was 100% made.

I think I may have goofed because I thought that you were piecing by hand the various little fabrics in your quilt top.  So sorry for any confusion.

Your quilts are so pretty.  You are a patient lady.  I've dabbled at quilting with my grandmother's help, and once more since her passing 12 years ago, but I find that life throws way too much distraction at me lately, so  I haven't been able to stay focused on such a project.  I love looking at your projects.

Re: Wedding Rings Quilt ... The End

@SHOPR, I never started to quilt until I was in my forties.  I started for something to occupy me while I recovered from surgery.  When I worked full time I had zero time for quilting.  It is a hobby I am happy to have in my retirement.

I would love to have seen some of your grandmother’s work.  All of the quilts I have done are machine pieced.  I think it’s the best way to do them as they need to be well 'put together’ to take the wear and tear.

Thanks for the kind words.  LM
