Yes humor ....haven't we all thought, even for a second "What will people think of this stuff"as we're preparing to haul it to the SA?

Especially if you're handing it over a counter to get a tax receipt instead of just using the collection box???

Sheesh.....You appear to be a new poster.....so I'll give you benefit of the doubt....YES of course some DON'T care, but some do, and some take care to make thier donations as presentable as possible even when anonymous ( like in the collection box).

Again....sheeesh.

Oh PleeeeeZ! Stop with the judgement. I'm NOT NEW and Humor is the last thing I would ever expect from this post. No, I don't think about these things.

Enjoy your SOUR LIFE!!

Re: We have donated much stuff that. . .

I got what I though was an off-putting comment when I donated some Christmas items to a Goodwill near me in early January. The attendant said, "Why are you donating these now? A little late."

I didn't think it required a response. Obviously I used them over the season, but was tired of looking at them and donated rather than stored. Certainly I can't be the only one who does that.

Needless to say, I no longer donate at that Goodwill and prefer driving farther to another or to St. Vincent De Paul.

I felt we could've started our own landfill last May when I cleared out my parents house.  There were 4 trips to Union Mission; the same volunteer unloaded my vehicle 3 out of the 4 trips, and after the last unload commented that there couldn't possibly be anything left!!

Re: We have donated much stuff that. . .

We have been donating a lot of stuff as well.  It's been a a process over the last few years and we have slowly been updating room by room and just getting rid of stuff.

We have currently been cleaning out the basement and I have a few bag fulls to bring next week.  I don't know what they think of me since they have people make donations every day.

The place near me is in a church lot and an organization called Association for the Blind.  There is also another thrift shop that I will donate to occasionally in another town near me.

Not a new poster just a nasty one.

We are still in our large family home, trying to clean out.  The Vietnam Vets come to our home to pick up many donations.

It makes it easier, to be sure.

@ahoymate Just a word of warning.  I think you will be happier ignoring my posts.  Since most of them are filled with irony or humor, you aren't going to enjoy them, and you won't be seen by others here as missing the point.

I am sincere here in my reply to you.  I'm not the poster you would enjoy interacting with.  I will freely admit that.  No harm or foul for either of us, just saving you some grief and embarrassment.  Enjoy topics here that you will like, and posters you would enjoy and have a good time!

Re: We have donated much stuff that. . .

When our motorhome was demolished a few years ago our garage was packed with boxes of dishes, cookware, towels and bedding, airfryer, laundry supplies, and on and on.  We had no plans on getting another motorhome so we were getting rid of all of it. We took it all to St Vincent de Paul and a veteran's group home. (Of course a year later we bought the new motorhome and re-furnished it!) Then my dad passed away so we cleaned out his house and they got more. I'm now looking to clean out 2 of the the attics in this house, the basement and a storage shed.

I remember when I left my first husband and needed furniture-all my friends donated 'stuff', but it seems that now kids don't want it? LOL! I was flat broke and needed everything!

@Sooner.  I imagine thousands of people downsize or clean out and make huge numbers of donations, so don't feel "criminal".
