Washing machines and dryers. Matching sets?

If you replace your washer or dryer do you buy a new set or just the broken one. My SIL insists they match? I do not, they are in laundry room, SQ washer, GE dryer.

If I only need one I am very grateful to only need one, who cares if they dont match, they are not earrings!!!

I only replace the broken one. They are always white, so they do "match". I bought my daughter & son inlaw a washer & dryer for a wedding present. The sales person was showing us all of the features & when they had decided on a washer, with all of it's water saving feautires & spinning cycles that got the clothes so much drier, he proceded to show us the matching dryer (they ARE 2 different words. I just looked it up. LOL), I asked why I would pay so much more for this dryer if the washer was so great at wringing out the clothes. Why wouldn't I buy the cheaper dryer? He was so confused. Said no one had ever asked that. They would want the matching set.

Why would I discard something that still works? Unless you are going to give it to someone who needs it, that would be wasteful in my book. My washer is 14 years old and I replaced my dryer about 3 years ago. Different makes, but both white and both work, that's all that counts.

I replaced both even though the dryer stopped working.

New washer is more efficient, less time and less water so I justified the cost.

Only my very first washer and dryer matched. I haven't had a matched set in the 35 years I've lived in this house, and quite possibly never will again. Not important to me at this stage of life.

Don't give a rat's behind if they match. Currently have a Speed Queen washer, Whirlpool washer, and Whirlpool dryer none of them match not even the Whirlpools.
