Washed pillow... full of water

Help help help.  Washed a pillow. Dumb me.  It said I could.  Now I  have it.. wet and full of water.  I  even stepped on it on the floor, towel under it.  I put it in my dryer. It went thump thump and I got it out immediately.  Don't want bill for dryer.

Is there something I can do.

oh my, don't want to get rid of it.  Not a wasteful person.

What type of fill is in the pillow?  Feathers, polyfiber or foam?  Did you try running it through the washer spin cycle again?

Re: Washed pillow... full of water

I've had that happen and you really do need to dry it for while.  The dryer needs to be balanced out with items on the other side equilivant to the weight of the pillow.  I'm surprised you were able to wash it without balancing the washer.... but that's the thumping you hear is the unbalanced load.

Letting it air dry may take a long time and might promote the growth of mold/mildew so it might even be worth taking to a laundermat to dry completely.....

Good luck!  Woman LOL

If this is a "My Pillow"......do another "spin cycle".....that's what I do & it still takes 2 drying cycles in my dryer......

It takes a long time to dry a pillow completely.  Put a few towels in the load with it to balance the load.

You may need to take it to a laundromat to use the big dryers, they work great.

Re: Washed pillow... full of water

I have an extra spin cycle on my washer...I always use it no matter what i have in the laundry...then nothing takes that long in the dryer...

I have several of My Pillows....I usually do two at a time..or one pillow and some towels...I leave them in the dryer for an hour and they are dry as a bone...

They may dry sooner...but I am too lazy to go to the basement...lol..before an hour...just in case they aren't done..

@bonnielu  Are you sure the cycle completed?  If you only had the pillow in the washing machine it may have stopped due to imbalance and didn't finish the spin cycle.  Put the pillow back in and add some beach towels, then spin it again.  Put all of that in the dryer and you should be in business.

You could put it back in the washer for an extra spin cycle. I don't know I just put mine in the dryer and it takes however long it takes.

Re: Washed pillow... full of water

I didn't see any comments about putting a tennis ball in the dryer with the pillow....however, a caution......pillows have been known to start a dryer fire IF it becomes lodged up next to the vent pipe exhaust.  (I know a woman who made this mistagke - dryer got hot and pillow was almost dry).

About the suggestion to put pillow back in washer for another SPIN cycle.  New machines lock the lid - take commands from the computer so you don't have any options to select 'another spin'.

Re: Washed pillow... full of water

Can you put it outside and let it "drain"?

It will take awhile, but it does work.
