Want my old washing machine back

Am I the only one who cannot stand the new washers that wash your clothes in about 3 inches of water. I have been trying to think of the upside but It does not help. There is hardly enough water for it to slosh. Want my old Kenmore back. 😔

Next time look for one with a 'deep-water setting'.  That's what I plan to do when the time comes.

Re: Want my old washing machine back

Yes!!!  I played around and did some stupid things after a google search.  One article said to fill large water bottles with water and add to the load and that would fool the washer into thinking the load weighed more and that more water was needed.  HA!  It did not work and the lids came off of the bottles within a minute or two.  Don't try it.

I finally discovered that when I use the delicate cycle (even if it's for non-delicate items), it uses more water.  The lighter the load (on delicate), the more water it uses.  A load of 5 towels won't get as much water as a load containing 2 shirts, but it is definitely more water than I get when I use all of the other cycles (normal, etc.).

Yes deep water setting is the way to go.

@evelynerI don't blame you for being unhappy.  I couldn't live with those low water levels.  My beloved Kenmore Elite died 10 months ago.  We replaced it with a Speed Queen.  I can set the water depth to low, med or high.  There is also an Auto setting which I never use.  Given how much I use the washer, the Speed Queen was worth every penny.  Also has a 7 year warranty.

My washing machine (Whirlpool) is quite old.  I get to select the size of the load (hand-washable up to ex-large, with many settings in between) and that determines how much water goes in.  I can't imagine doing a load of linens, for example, in only 3" of water.

Is there any way you can add more water?  Like using a large jug or pitcher of water?

My last two washers were new, but give me plenty of water and they aren't Speed Queens.

Not if it's a front loading machine.

I have to wash everything on large or extra large load, just to get enough water. I sure miss my old one, too!
