Wallpaper border question???

Our den entertainment center is cleaned out, pictures and knickknacks are off the walls, now need to paint. Two walls have a border on them that needs to be removed. I can't wait. It seems to be sticking pretty tight. I need to google how to get it off, but you guys always give the best solutions.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

When we removed wallpaper we used the Zinsser Paper Tiger scoring tool & Dif. The scoring Tiger is a tool with little razor teeth that puts tiny holes in the wallpaper & the Dif spray gets behind it to make removal easier. We got both at Lowe's. Good Luck. I'm sure your den will look nice once it's finished.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

I used the tiger and liquid fabric softener. Mine came off easily.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

We used a solution of vinegar and warm water. I've peeled more than my share of wallpaper and it always worked.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

When the border was applied, was the area sized beforehand? Sizing makes it a breeze to remove.

I've seen people mix liquid Downy Fabric softener with water, spray on and strip.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

If the area under the border had wall sizing applied before the border went up it should remove easily using the paper tiger tool to perforate the paper and then a solution made of warm water and liquid fabric softener mixed 50-50. Perforate the border than apply the solution with a sponge. Wait about 10 minutes and using a scraping gently try removing the paper. If needed apply solution a second time and wait another 10 minutes.

Re: Wallpaper border question???

We just got done removing from bedroom last night. Getting ready to paint on Mon. We used a spray bottle with about an ounce of fabric softener to 16 oz warm water. We sprayed , let sit 15 minutes and used plastic scraper on a few sections. Most of it just peeled off.
