I'm laughing at all of the post that were removed because they were 'argumentative'.  Wall washing?  LOL

 

Yes, I do wash walls even if I'm going to paint them.  Walls get dusty just like furniture does.

My parents both smoked so my brother and I we assigned the task of washing the walls regularly when we were kids. It was a disgusting task and one of the reasons neither one of us ever smoked.  My mother's favorite soap for that purpose was also powdered Spic and Span and that was more than 50 years ago.

@Mominohio, The Murphy's Oil Soap (original concentrated) bottle says to use 1/4 cup per gallon of water, or 1/2 cup per gallon for heavier cleaning.  Does that sound about right?  I never thought to use Murphy's on the walls (have no idea why) and have always used concoctions that I felt needed to be rinsed.  What a pain, especially to my shoulders.
