We live in a small rural town that WalMart took over about 25 years ago. all the other stores are gone now, and to shop anywhere else is a 25 mile drive one way.

We have bars, restaurants, car dealerships, and WalMart. Very sad.

Yes, I shop at Walmart and Sam's, I have access within a 20 mile drive to 7 Walmart's, 3 within 10 miles!

Yep, shop there at least once a week. Better the $$ in my pocket than anywhere else. One of the ways they keep their prices low by not allowing unions - go Walmart!! Thanks for the great prices I consistently find there!!!!

This proves my point in my previous post here.

I sure do shop at WalMart. If someone works there (or anywhere else) and isn't happy with what they're paid, they're free to look for a job that pays better.

I shop where I get the biggest bang for my buck. I'm not part of the 1%. I can't afford to worry about everyone else's problems.

I hate Wal-Mart but I do shop there. I try to only go about once every 3 mos. If I had other choices I would shop some place else. Not much where I live. We do have a smaller K-Mart, there is a Dillard's & Penney's in our Mall. Sears just closed. If you want to buy a larger appliance the only place you can go now is Lowe's. I buy things at Wal-Mart that I cannot get a Aldi & not paying the price for these items at the grocery stores. I shop online a lot. If I had to go some place else to shop it's a 3 hr round trip. Most people work at Wal-Mart because it's the only work they can find not because they want to work there. I agree their wages along with a lot of other places are not enough for people to make a living. I would like all the rich people that pay these wages to see if they could live off that pay. That would be funny to watch. The reason they keep the wages so low at Wal-Mart along with most places is they want to keep the money in their own pocket. It's called GREED. When a business has that much profit we should not have to help subsidize.

With an attitude like that we might as well go back to sweatshops, child labor and no safety for employees who work for next to nothing for very long hours with no overtime!!! That is just the way it will be someday again!! Then when it's too late those with this attitude who have to work like this will be so very unhappy because now it affects them!!!

Think about buying local and in this country the next time you need a new vehicle. It always surprises me when I hear the educated elite telling every one to buy local and join a CSA and then they crawl into their foreign car.

I never liked the Mom and Pop stores because the goods were so overpriced. I shop at WM sometimes because frankly, I like saving money.

I prefer shopping at WM, Home Depot or Lowe's over any Mom and Pop stores - anyday!!

What's wrong with saving money?

Frankly, the media is to blame for the WM bad rap. If you don't want to work there, go elsewhere.

Well in the case of mom/pop hardware stores, if they have been around a long time and you have an older home there's a good chance you'll find a part or other item you may need that HD or L's doesn't carry.

WalMart is not my favorite fun place to shop, but if you need utilitarian items like sport socks, dish towels, cotton underwear, or standard-issue kitchen and home items, they're just fine. They've been hugely successful offering useful products at very reasonable prices. I have no problem with their wealth and success. More power to them!
