Re: WARNING....DURAFLAME SMALL PORTALBE HEATER...STOP USING.....

Wow, that's dangerous!

I have two of the stove design heaters, but only use for the fireplace mode, not heat!

Re: WARNING....DURAFLAME SMALL PORTALBE HEATER...STOP USING.....

When QVC recalled a heater several years ago, they only required the cord to be returned - not the actual item.

Re: WARNING....DURAFLAME SMALL PORTALBE HEATER...STOP USING.....

I received the call too this morning! Is QVC expecting every single customer who purchased these heaters to ship them back in order for us to get a refund?? What if we gave these as gifts like I did. Two of them nonetheless!! A refund should be issued immediately no matter if we ship them back or not!! How's that going to look to ask the recipient for their gift back because now WE have to take the time to ship these things back. How does this because our problem??

My large duraflame with glass doors from qvc has a strange odor when it first kicks on. Have had it 2 years...wonder if it has the same issue.

Re: WARNING....DURAFLAME SMALL PORTALBE HEATER...STOP USING.....

{#emotions_dlg.bored} Well, I'm late to the party it seems, but I got the call too. When I saw the 800# come up on my id, I thought, "QVC?? Wonder what they want? They never call me for anything." Hmph, little did I know I was gonna hear that msg. I sure hate that bc we have 4 duraflame heaters and I liked this one the best. Our other 3 are the floor models but I think this little one warms up a room quicker than those. We move it between our 2nd bedroom/computer room & the kitchen. We've never had any issues w/it either, but we are not going to use it now! We don't wanna take the risk of something happening. When I told my hubby this afternoon, he just shook his head. This comes on the heels of a really bad house fire in his hometown in KY where 9 out of 11 people were killed this week. A heater ignited some material that accidentally came in contact w/it. So I am grateful that we got that robo call this morning!

Never leave portable heaters on unattended and/or overnight and/or when sleeping. Also, make sure you fill out the Warranty cards and send them back, including all of your contact phone numbers.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: WARNING....DURAFLAME SMALL PORTALBE HEATER...STOP USING.....

1.5 years ago qvc issued a recall on a BL Christmas tree that it had sold the year before. Fire hazard. Once they determined what trees and such they sent a letter to all involved that we were to only cut the cord of the tree and mail a part of that back to them. They provided envelope and postage for that. At that point we could destroy the tree. We were all refunded full purchase price plus the shipping, tax etc. Notifying people on 2/1 is no great conspiracy on QVCs part. If you paid by EZ pay and the heater you have is truly effected...I would call them once they have provided more information....in writing ...and request that you be allowed another 5ez pay and detail why. If CS denies that then politely escalate it up the chain. You'll probably get your ez pay option granted with in a week or two of the call to CS

I really hope we get a refund. I am still paying my off, cause I used my "easy pay" for it!

And what do you know? They decide to call us on "feb 1" and wait till the jan 31 date to go away and now we cant send them back! Seems like they planned it like that??

I didn't have any problems, but now I wouldn't turn it on if you paid me. That really stinks, cause it was a cute little heater. I don't have the box either.

Whoa...you no doubt are probably spot on...good point! Shame on you QVC!!! {#emotions_dlg.mad}

Do you all really have so little faith in QVC that you think they would deliberately do that? It would be a PR disaster. Of course they'll make some arrangement for reimbursement.

What about the ones that look like a mini fireplace? Should we be worried? (I have two of them and my puppy lays in front of the one in our living room constantly)

I know that is true...I got a call for mine today. However, I still agree with holiday62...about the timing of our being notified...today 2/1/2014, the day after... 1/31/2014...which is the end of being able to return items purchased during the holiday season "interesting".
