Hello Everyone.....We are in the processing of moving from California to Georgia.  We've started looking at homes and they all have double ovens, which I like, but they're all electric.  Is this the norm?

TIA

Re: WALL DOUBLE OVEN QUESTION

P.S.  Not asking if this is the norm specifically in Georgia.  Just wondering if electric is the norm for double wall ovens.

Re: WALL DOUBLE OVEN QUESTION

I'm in south Georgia and that depends upon the home owner's likes and dislikes.  I have all electric appliances, as do many home down here because electric is cheaper and safer than a gas accident.  There really isn't a huge deal of difference between the two, except the time to heat up and stop heating.  A wall oven is an easy fix to get a different one.  I wouldn't let it make or break my purchase of a house.

Electricity is far cheaper down here than gas, so that is most likely the reason why people have them over gas appliances.

@ScrapHappy  I believe all wall ovens are electric, have never seen gas other than range tops, stoves, etc.

Re: WALL DOUBLE OVEN QUESTION

My grandmother has a gas wall oven, or had. She recently replaced her small wall oven with a range after many decades of having a cooktop and wall oven, both gas. Now she has a gas range/oven. She did have to order the gas wall oven special ordered since they didn't carry it in stock. The new one was way smaller than the old even though the exterior dimension were the same. She wasn't happy, so she now has the range so she doesn't have to lift things into the wall oven. She is 79.

Re: WALL DOUBLE OVEN QUESTION

Homes may have gas cooktop but electric wall ovens simply because of the placement or lack of) gas line running to the area of the wall oven.

Re: WALL DOUBLE OVEN QUESTION

I have a new oven and opted for a gas range but the over had to be electric! Much more even baking/cooking!

My sister in law redid her kitchen recently and I think she said wall ovens are electric only, only b/c her old one might have been gas.

I have a double wall oven and gas cooktop
