@Somertime ,  it was truly a labor of love for the Bradlees, and absolutely, a "restoration",  not a remodel.   Sally Quinn, in my 'umble estimation, is kind of an eccentric, but she has had an uncanny sensitivity to the houses that she's tackled.  I LOVE that one in the Maryland countryside too, and also, most of the huge pile they had in Washington ( Georgetown?) that used to belong to Robert Lincoln.
