Comfy farmhouse living room with warm neutral hues and stone fireplace

Adding a bit of color and cheerful zest to the double-height living space in white

Thought these were interesting though very different.

I like the second one better than the first pic. The first one reminds me of a beach house with the covers on the furniture. Just not my taste.

I love the stone fireplace in the first room.  However, I would have curtains on the windows and a print of colors on the chairs.  It needs to be perked up for me to give it warmth. Love the ceiling!

I would prefer a coffee table made of wood in the second room and change the rug.  I like the fringe chairs but do not care for the bland colors on the furnishings with the purple chair thrown in.  I prefer the first room but both rooms need changes for me.

I love these side by side comparisons for us to dissect, @jubilant !

I'm with @SaveTheTurtles ,  preferring the second one.

#1 is at least airy, light and pleasant, but it hasn't the personality and individuality of the second one.  It's very much like so many of the looks that have populated the internet in recent years.  I can enjoy many coastal / rustic looks, but this one, while nice, verges more on the "expected".

The second one makes use of rich color and pattern, and different textures and surfaces, in a knowing way--- not overwhelming, but enough for interest.  Its use of symmetry is calming and grounding.

It's more in the traditional, English-influenced style that seems to come about organically, over time.

I prefer the second style, looks very cozy -

But I would change the paint to a warm beige or sunny color.

I dont like either room. All that furniture to move to clean. I do not like the fixtures or curtains. I like the look of linen fabric but it would require frequent cleaning.

My style is comfort, uncluttererd, not busy and easy

I like both of them but both have too much furniture for me. Doesn't look like there's much space to walk around.

I don't like clutter either. The 1st one needs some color.

I like the first one. The second one has too many odd colors for my taste.

I prefer the first one.  The second one is okay, maybe pushing the eclectic style a little too much.  Get rid of the leather ottoman (?) and move it to the first setting.

I prefer the first. The room seems light and airy, the gorgeous mantle and gleaming wood floors are amazing.

Overall, the furniture doesn't impress me and the chair covers must go. I do like the blue ottomans and pretty fresh flowers.

The ceiling in the second room is beautiful.
