The rug arrived  well packaged, rolled up. I spread it out on the hardwood floor several hours ago, but It is still ripply from being rolled up. I don't like that.  Is it going to flatten out nicely?

@Another new name Sue  I put books on all corners of a rug I bought here a few months ago, and it didn't take long before it was straightened out.

Re: Veranda rug arrived today, a question

Thanks everyone! The end where I had the books overnight is flat, but there is still some rippling along edges this morning. I'll give it more time.  I'm happy to have a small one but definitely recommend against it on a hardwood floor as it slips . Best bet would be to use it outside on a non-slippery surface or get that anti-skid product that you can cut to fit the back.

Someone else mentioned using a bit of water and the sun to flatten it.  I would do that.  The heat will relax the fibers and the water will allow them to stretch out into place.

If all else fails @Another new name Sue try spritzing with water right there on the floor, and using a blow dryer on hot in the areas that won't lay flat. That heat should take out any stray wrinkle

I always use phone books to flatten out the edges in the rugs. I let them sit for 2-3 days depending on how bad they are and then move the phone books to other spots. Works every time for me.

Also, try rolling it in the opposite direction from they way it was packaged and 'working' it a bit. That might go a long way toward flattening it.

This is what I've done with all types of rugs and things that are rolled tightly.

It moves things a long a little faster.
