I have a Shark A1 robot vacuum with self cleaning bin. OMG I love this thing. We call her Hazel. She vacuums daily at 10:00 AM and takes Sundays off.  Our floors are tile, hardwood with a few large area rugs.  Hazel does an amazing job and is quiet.

@teachergal I agree!  We just got a Roomba for the upstairs too!  It's our gift to the upstairs!  LOL!!!

Suggestions welcomed.  I live by myself, but do own a cat - so I got hair and dust and the usual debris that seems to appear out of nowhere.  I typically vacume with the power vacume once a week - 2 bedrooms are carpeted, and I have 2 large rugs.  I have a swiffer and a bob aslett micro fiber mops for the hardwoods and tile.  Also a manual little vacume sweeper push around thing.

But I need a new power vacume.  My current one (about 10 years old) is a Bissell, bagless and I like it just fine, but one of the filters in the debris container has gone kaput.  I don't want to spend big bucks on a vacume. Really I don't want to go over $100 if possible.  With the age of the vacume I don't think I can just get a replacement filter, although I haven't really looked for one.  Any recommendations?  A Shark?  A Bissell?  Hoover? or other?

Oh my!  I used to have a Eureka canister, metal, lasted forever.  Then the original Thunder and then the Dyson DC 07.  The Dyson was the best vaccum ever.  Now there isn't a vacuum on the market I would recommend.  Not even a Dyson and definitely not a Shark.  The prices are way too high and the quality does not justify the price.  I now have a Dyson DC33 for carpets and a Soniclean for bare floors.  Got a good deal years ago at Walmart but no comparisson to my original Dyson.  The Eureka Mighty Mite has a lot of good reviews and it's cheap.  I am in the market for a new canister vac but there is nothing out there except may be for an expensive Miele. The insanity of putting a Hepa Filter in the dirt bin of bagless models is just too insane and so many brands do it.  I am convinced the people who design vacuums these days have never used a vacuum or just don't care what they sell.

You can't go wrong with a Shark. We are love ours. We just gifted a Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away Upright Vacuum (NV501)to our daughter and almost SIL for Christmas and they love it.  They have two cats and a dog and she told me yesterday how much fur it picked up that she had to empty the collection receptacle several times. I was able to get it from Kohl's, on sale, with a coupon code, and Kohl's Cash. Oh, i went through Ebates too. 👍

I have two Orecks - one is very old, has a bag and works fine. The other is a cordless and is lightweight - does a great job.

BISSELL® AirRam Cordless Upright Vacuum

Love love love this cordless vacuum! Everytime I use it, I smile.
Even my husband likes it, and he's very critical.
It has amazing suction, LOVE that it is cordless. Makes me  use it more often because it is cordless, and I just keep moving along. What a relief!
It is light weight, maneuvers very well, and picks up cat hair very well.
I've had it for almost a year, and I urge anyone who is looking for a new vac to give it a try.
I bought it from HSN for $189..I see it is now up to $219 with free shipping.
