@mousiegirl  Yes, if I really love something I usually find a place for it.  I have a lot of Lisa R's fruit teardrops and some of Jill's Magnolia ones so I hung them on a closet rod in a spare closet.  You'll find a place for all of that extra stuff.  We have plenty of out building storage but I don't want my stuff out there.  We are hoarders, you know, just clean ones.  LOL

@lucymo, That is a good idea.  Do you still store your wreaths and garlands in their original boxes, or have you come up with a space-saving way to store them also without crushing them?

Mine are still in their boxes in my spare room, and they take up so much space!  I don't have a basement to hang them in, and I don't want to ruin them in the extreme heat of the attic.  If I had a larger closet, I could hang them along the walls inside the closet, but it's just a standard sized closet, so there isn't room for that idea.  Anyone have any brilliant ideas for wreath and garland storage?

@SHOPR  I bought the wreath and garland bags here, and can get four garlands, at least, in one bag, and two-three wreaths in another bag, then I place them on a shelving unit. Nothing gets crushed, and they stay clean.

@mousiegirl, I've always wondered if the delicate flowers and leaves on a wreath (think Spring wreath full of daisies) get crushed in the storage bags.  I figured that they would look bad when I took them out to use them.  If you have good luck with the bags, then maybe I should reconsider them.  Thanks.

I have not posted anything on these blogs or read them since they changed the format of this. I dispise it. BUt, I got on today to see what everyone thought of VPH's shows. I see a topic of how to store wreaths. If you can get your hands on a large cardboard barrel (many businesses get things in them, especially in factories) they work great for wreaths and garlands. If the wreath is not a really big one, they lay right in and stack beautifully in the barrel. I usually put something like bubble wrap in between the wreaths. I have stored as many as 10 wreaths in one.

@nomar, That is another great idea.  Thank you!

@SHOPR  for years I also stored my wreaths in orginal boxes but they did take up too much room!  I hung a rod from the rafters in my basement and hang wreaths in wreath storage bags from S hooks on the rod.  I ordered the bags online from Walmart ( they were $6 or so) and also from Zulily before Xmas.  Some had clear fronts and others didn't.  I use cardboard tags and twine tied to the handle to identify what they are.  I also put garlands in some.  Another related storage idea that is working well is a clear garment bag (with a bottom in it) that I bought at the Christmas Tree Shop and put all my rolls of wrapping paper in it.  I also hung this on the rod.  I'm very interested to hear other storage ideas because next to getting rid of things, organized storage is the way to go.

@SHOPR  I tape "this side up" on the bag so that I know what side to place gently on a shelf, and the bags have a handle for easy carrying, if one chooses.

@SHOPR  Hi, the spare closet is wide enough to hang the wreaths on the wall and some are but a few of mine I put a plastic clothes hanger through them and hang on the rod along with the teardrops.  We are fortunate to have large closets in our house which allows for storing some of the more delicate items.  We have two very large walkin closets for our clothes so I can take this one closet and still leave a closet for guest.  I used to store wreaths in boxes but you're right it really takes a lot space.  I am out of space now though as the rod is full.  SHOPR, we all should win the lottery and build us a house with one huge room built with storage closets, cabinets and shelves just for our seasonal decor.  Good luck to us.  lol

@lucymo, I guess I could try to hang the wreaths and garlands on hangers in the closet, just to see how much less room they might take up than they do in the cardboard boxes.  That closet space is so valuable, though, since there isn't much of it.  Thanks.

@SHOPR  Have you already used the 'under bed' storage?  I sometimes put boxes under the spare beds.  I can easily pull out the boxes to clean under there.  I use every inch of space in my house.  lol

@DecorDiva, It sounds like you have the ideal solution.  Sometimes I wish I had a basement.  @mousiegirl, that's another good tip.

@lucymo, I have vowed not to put anything under our bed the way I once did.  I am lazy, and if I put things under there again, I know that I will never move them to clean.  I just know!  LOL.

@SHOPR - sometimes I wish I didn't have a basement!  I've accumulated a lot of decor over the years and now I have less energy to drag it out, as much as I love creating vignettes, and then have to put it away.  Having just turned 60, I feel now is the time to whittle things down to keeping just what I really like.  Easier said than done.
