Have any forum members used it?
During a house inspection from my homeowners insurance, it was required to have both.
A smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector in each room.
A few days ago, an alarm went off and I checked smoke detectors (they're on the ceiling, not wired) not one was the culprit. It was the carbon one. I replaced the batteries in all and all was well-so I thought. I didn't know they had a life span and they do. Mine was 7 years old. There's a date on the back as to when it was built.
They're expensive most anywhere and most are a combined smoke detector and carbon detector. It would save $$$ for me if I don't need someone to install and wire.
The one QVC is selling doesn't need any special installing.

Never heard of the brand USI.
Amazon has Kidde and First Alert brands for $20 - $30.
Might not have the fancy digital readout but it will save your life.
They have tons of choices for fancier models.
Some of the lower priced ones - some are wall outlet, others battery only.

@Alsace Gal, I have used the type shown in @MezzieStarr's post in the second position, the first alert 2 pack.
I particularly like that if I am going to be staying somewhere away from home I can bring one with me.

It's important to note that CO and smoke detectors need to be placed at different heights within your environment. CO is a heavy gas so it will sink to the lowest part of a room, the floor. Smoke, otoh, rises to the ceiling. Detectors for each hazard need to be placed accordingly and not as a single unit. In other words, it's best to have one for each hazard.
All detectors have a life-span usually about 7 to 10 years. Wired or not they all need to be replaced at that time. Detectors lose sensitively as they get old.

I have one and have only had it about a year. It has never gone off but does have a blinking red light that I see occasionally to show it's working. What else can you say about something like this?

Thank you, I'm ordering the wall outlet one, that will be in the hallway a couple feet from a/c heating unit which is gas.

Thank you, I never thought of taking one with me when I'm away from home, great suggestion.

Thank you for the explanations, I appreciate your feedback.
There was a presentation of it and the rep was showing installing it next to a thermostat, which is probably not correct as you stated.
