UPSTATE NEW YORK HOUSE

[ Edited ]

This renovated historic farmhouse is so exciting!   It's in Gothic Revival style, a favorite.  Love the little pointed gables.

Located in tiny Germantown, New York, in New York's scenic Columbia County.

It has a front view of the stunning Hudson River and environs:

Interior designer, talented Louise Copeland, has a restrained hand, respecting the architecture of the old house.  She kept the small, narrow entry very simple.  Lovely original newell post on bannister.

The living room is spacious and serene.

This close up of Louise talking on the couch, allows us to see the painting ( from the Hudson River school, appropriately).  And the textiles she used-- love the modern subtlety of the pillows, and the way they tie into the couch fabric.  And those walnut twist lamps might be among my favorite things in the house:

The distinctive chair she is showing here is Italian, from the 1700's.

Like in most houses, the furniture and objects move around.

The rooms are so well-porportioned and spacious, you might think they are under-accessorized.  There isn't an overload of "visual chatter",  thankfully.  Yet this close-up shows that she has thoughtfully accessorized in key areas.

It's a dreamy, light-filled kitchen:

The green of the dining room is cozy.

The sunroom doubles as a comfortable family room:

Darling small blue study:

The color of the sconces' shades, is a vibrant counterpoint to the blue, and picks up rusty tones in the wood and pottery-- no detail is too small to overlook.

At least one bedroom has a fireplace:

The house is blessed to have varied rooflines in the rooms-- this bedroom as "under-the-eaves" charm:

The pink-y paint trim is so pretty here.

This house is one of those that yields even more visually, if you use the "enlarge" function-- there's so much to see.

Edited to add--  It was bound to happen--  I thought this looked familiar, and have posted this house before, ha.  Luckily, the Homeworthy video that this was taken from is new, so a lot of the pictures, image angles and the input from Louise Copeland are not the same as the previous ones posted.  But some are, so I extend apologies for repetition.

Beautiful!! The sunroom and study are my favorites, but I really did not see a room I don't love. The exterior, of course, is exquisite!

Visual chatter.

I love that! Woman LOL

The sun room and the library area are my favorites.  While  this is not usually my favorite house design, this one has charm.

The Hudson River Valley area is such a lovely place to visit.

I especially love the collection of paintings throughout their home.  But, fortunately, we are living in an time when we can buy replicas online to make us happy.  Thank you again, @Oznell.

What a spectacular house, inside and out.  I love the spacious rooms.   The art work stands out ,  The living room, sun room and study are my favorites in furnishings, decor and comfort.  The bedrooms are warm and inviting.  There is very little I do not like in this house.  Also the view , beautiful as is the location.  Only the kitchen lacks appeal for me, it is roomy but needs change.

I don't care for the exterior. I don't need perfect symmetry, but the 2 sides of the house on either side of the porch seem very unbalanced to me. The right side looks too simple compared to the left with all the details.

I like most of the furnishings and rooms inside.

Love it all - except for the large floral arrangement on the kitchen island.  Those big floral arrangements in kitchens don't appeal to me.  Other than that, the house is beautiful and it's all very appealing and comfortable.

Love the sunroom and the "blue" room.

I would switch out the heavy dining room and the bedroom with the fireplace drapes for lighter ones.

The other two bedrooms are lovely.
