@wilma

Totally agree and I also don't like closing up fireplaces.  If they don't like the black, put an arrangment in that space.

I think it's beautiful and very well done...for people who have no kids at all in their family.

The bones of the room are good, and I always love "under-dressed" windows like those, that let maximum light flood in.  Pretty!

I don't mind the neutral white envelope at all.  I think I'd relax the room by having less stiff looking furniture.  Would have to banish those padded, tufted alcoves with sconces-- to me, they are the worst feature, seem fussy, and increase the "contrived" feeling.

Loft library is great use of space.

Re: Two Story Living Space...

Overall, it's a great open space with large windows & window seat.  There's many features I like & others not.  But, I can see my own vision to make the changes I'd want.

Now, if there's a nice view .... ?

I love this area, it is comfortable and warm looking.  The only change for me would be to add color.

Re: Two Story Living Space...

I'm a crisp white wall type of person (except in the kitchen....way too bright if the windows face a West or South direction).

Anyway, love this room.  Easy to add a bit of color here and there.  And perfect for hanging art work.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Two Story Living Space...

This space is nice and light and airy, however for me it needs a little color, and I also do not like the upholstered spaces next to the fireplace, to me that gives the room a dated appearance. I do like the 2nd story, but it does appear a little narrow! I love the big windows and and the ceiling light from what I can see of it!

Re: Two Story Living Space...

WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too white & light for me.  Those two alcove seating areas are just hideous.  The built-ins on the second level add a nice,unique touch.

I really like the idea of this, but on the bottom I would keep the rug, change the chandelier, ditch all the furniture, start over and warm it up.  And put some coverings on the windows!
