lolakimono,  could I ask you a question?  My mother bought me my dream lamp about 40 years ago and it has pooped out.   It will burn a 3-way light bulb and there are times when I need the 150 watt bulb as my eyes get older.  But the 3 way part has quit working;  when I turn it on it will only turn on the 60 watt.  I was looking at the supplies that you bought and would like to know what is in the blue parkage on the right beside the drill.  I really don't need anything else except maybe the other package in blue.  I honestly didn't know a person could buy replacement parts for an electric lamp.  I love it so dearly and had a new silk shade made for it a couple of years back.  I was going to give it to one of the grandkids, but I really rather keep it for myself.  Do you know if they make 3 way switches for lamp improvements?  I am so excited and thank you for any help.  Also thank you and everyone for the lovely pictures.

The answer to your first question is that you don't need that part.  It is a ceramic drill bit to be able to drill through the bottom of the vase.  Since yours is already a lamp, you have nothing to drill into.

The answer to your second question is that Home Depot (and probably other places like Ace, Lowe's, etc.) sell just that part- the three way socket.  A quick search yielded this, for $6:  (If you are not handy, there are always lighting stores who will rewire it for you- $$$).  You can always bring the lamp into HD or Lowe's to make sure the socket you choose is the right diameter for your existing lamp.

Thank you so much for replying and helping me.  I'll go to Lowes and get them to help me.   This is such a relief to me.  You have no idea how upset I was when I thought about giving it away.  You are a doll for taking all that time to explain it all.  Happy 4th to you.

@lolakimona

I am a lamp-aholic and am always surfing Goodwill for interesting lamps.

I already make lamps out of unusual jars I find, but I need to start expanding into other found objects!

Your lamp turned out great! You have to have the vision to make these cool things!

I love the lamp made from books and the wire basket. I need to start hunting for supplies!
