Re: Turkey Thanksgiving Decor

I had my hands on a turkey figurine at Hobby Lobby yesterday. I think I will go back and get it @Sakuya

Re: Turkey Thanksgiving Decor

That's kinda funny really, because the absolute worst happened to me.Woman Very Happy

Meat and seafood was starting to make me squeamish for a while. Woman Frustrated

One day I looked at my dog and thought, she's an animal.  Meat, bones, cartilage, teeth, organs.  Okay, you get the picture.

And I thought, I couldn't eat her flesh, cooked to perfection or not.  What's the difference?

That was it for me!

Don't get me wrong, I cook meat. every. day. for my husband.  But I only buy humanely raised meat.  I used to buy only organic, but now humanely raised means more to me.  If I can find humanely raised and organic...win/win.

I do care about how animals are treated.  And thank you to the family member of cattle farmers who posted above.  Sooner?

I know that there are farmers who don't care.  I've seen it and no, not on a Peta film.  With my own eyes in what I'd call bucolic countryside.  Nightmare.

So, I'm not going to buy a turkey that's on sale for 39 cents a pound for our Thanksgiving dinner.  I order mine ahead of time, just give them an estimate of size (lbs.).

Now, if I'm being scammed by a Cerified Humanely Raised emblem on something (and paying more for it) that's not my bad intention or what's in my heart.  And I do believe someone upstairs knows what's in my heart.

That said, I have several turkey decorations---no feathers attached!

I don't have turkey figurines, but I was eyeing a Jim Shore Pilgrim Gnome.  I certainly don't need it.  I think I have a few fall/harvest votives, I think I'm going to pass on the pilgrim.  It was so colorful though.  I will be lighting my TSV pumpkins fairly soon!

My sister has a paper witch from when we were kids.  She puts it up every Halloween.  Great childhood memories from the 60's.

Thank you everyone for all your comments and stories!

@lynnie61 - I am curious what the paper witch looks like from the 60s. What a special memento your sister has of childhood memories. Smiley Happy
