a pony wall upholstered from the bed side to separate it from the closet zone

What do you think of the way they have transformed a pony wall into a fixed seating area for a mudroom or entry?

What is a pony wall? I like it, both pretty and practical.

@Iwantcoffee

Pony walls are those "half" walls that usually house electricity, in an entryway, a staircase, etc.

Here is another example.

I like it, but in general I don't like pony walls.  Many many years ago I had a friend who built a house with a pony wall with a gorgeous saltwater aquarium built into the top of it.

I definitely like the way they utilized this area with the pony wall. They put a nice cushion on the bench and storage under it. The pillows are a nice addition. I wonder if the other wall, or even the back of the door, could be used to hang a jacket. Smart use of a space.

Good transformation.

Smart idea to hide the ugliness of a pony wall!  It works beautifully!

I am sure this was staged for photographing.  However, the pillows take up seating area for shoe/boot removal.  The material in the large mat inside the doorway will “ shed “ tiny pieces and get tracked all over the house.

Lastly, why not have a boot tray replace one basket so the tall boots don’t become a shout that there is no room for them under the bench.

All in all, very space frugal !  Good starting point to work with.

I love it.  So cute and functional.  I like pony walls if they are done correctly.

Good use of space.  Also a good way to make a foyer if you don't have one.  Many small homes have an entryway right into the living room.  The half-wall  gives the illusion of a foyer which, IMO, is a more attractive look.

However, I don't think I love the mudroom vibe if the space behind the wall is the living room (as it appears to be in this picture.)  It would be better in a kitchen area.
