I believe "Traditional" is still very popular although I'm not a fan. I also like (but not LOVE) the coffee table.

Very Pretty room, but I would change the art work as well as the Mantel decor....

.............Your post brought back memories that brought a smile to my face. Grandma had cats and upholstered furniture. Granny (her mother who was very elderly) and lived with Grandma, and my Grandpa (also very elderly as he was 20 yrs. older than Grandma) always had a cat on their lap or shoulders. One of the cats always chose the top of the couch as she was more a loner and older. How you go about getting cats that only like laps and tops of furniture....I'll never know!

Oh my, that is my chair. I must officially be old 👩🏻‍🦳
Do not care for the coffee table.

Yes, I believe traditional is still popular, though apparently it's definition changes to suit the times, which is a concept I don't support (make note Traditional Home magazine...). I don't believe a room needs to be largely Queen Anne or Chippendale to be considered 'traditional', but I so often see rooms labeled as traditional that simply aren't... This is an attractive traditional room and while I do like the ottoman, I'd prefer to see it used as an ottoman and an actual coffee table in its place...

I could live in this room. Love the built ins and fireplace; hate the chair and drapes.

This room confirms I am no longer big on traditional. I have pieces, but on the whole my comfort zone is more modern, large pieces cleaner lines, not much "stuff" in the shelves and on the walls and tables.
I gravitate toward a more modern lined interior with high ceilings and rooms that are more airy and light.
Even if most furnishing might be French or English it would be a less is more idea.

The coffee table reminds me of a Castro Convertible ottoman that I had that folded out to a single bed. It was amazingly comfortable for a fold out bed. Wish I had kept it.

It doesn't represent my definition of traditional, more what I'd call transitional, or semi or modern traditional done in mostly trendy neutral because it doesn't really fit any other category.
I think this room could easily transition to modern by removing the chair on the left, lamps on the mantle, oriental lamp to the left of the photo, prints, and adding a few modern touches. IMO, it would be impossible to do that to a Colonial Traditional room.
It's rare finding photos of Queen Anne and Chippendale decorated rooms, what I call pure traditional. So, I'd have to say, Colonial Traditional isn't trending or there'd be more interior designers displaying photos of their work all over the internet.
I do see much more Early American or Americana style on the internet, but that's a discussion for another time. The decor in this room doesn't come close.
To me, this is safe decorating. Not sure the owner wants to jump into pure traditional or go all modern.

I'm wondering what's under all those covers. Is it just bla furniture that they have slipcovered? Is it a bunch of different colors of wood that they're trying to tie together by slip covering them including the coffee table? Here's my idea of traditional with some life to it:
